The Creative Lady Story….
After spending my life working in the banking industry, I felt it was time for a change of direction, but wasn’t sure what direction to take. My husband suggested that I do something that I love, which is working with fabric, sewing, embroidery, dress making and patchwork and quilting. I started making a few enquiries and contacting people I know who worked on the markets and Creative Lady was launched on 6th April 2013.
The first market I worked was Rochford in Essex, every Tuesday with a start time of 4.00am. Then I started working at Rayleigh Market, every Wednesday with a start time of 5.00am. I was one of the first traders with a stall at Southend-on-Sea’s High Street Market when it was first started. This was a 5.00am start. I have also worked at Pitsea Market, Canvey Monthly Market, Burnham-on-Crouch Market, Maldon Thursday Market and special events such as bank holiday markets and fun days.
The markets start early to allow the stall holder to set up their stall and get ready for the public. Most days I was up at 3.00am winter, spring, summer and autumn, each season bringing its own difficulties and pleasures. As you may have noticed, I am not afraid of hard work. The first Creative Lady shop was at 28a High Street, Burnham-on-Crouch which opened in September 2015. This shop was very small and within 6 months the business had grown out of it, having no more room for stock and the ability to expand. So Creative Lady was on the move again, this time to the current premises at 1 High Street, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex CM0 8AG. The new shop enables us to stock more products to meet our customers’ needs and offers an additional room for running workshops, groups and clubs.
